Does your company do any liquid cooling?

If you said yes, do you also have a quick disconnect?

If not, you’re lacking one of the most important parts of your business. Having quick disconnects is how you make sure to stay cool in the liquid cooling business.

For those of you that do have one, do you feel like it’s the best one? Maybe not.

No matter where you are in the quick disconnects world, it can often be valuable to reevaluate what you have. Lucky for you, this article is going to tell you how to find the best quick disconnects for your business.

No Pressure

Let’s be honest: having a tool that you can use under serious pressure is important, but sometimes the best tool isn’t great for budgets. And depending on your size as a business, you might not need a quick disconnect with the most amount of pressure ability.

Instead, think about what kind of pressure your disconnect will be under. Do you need something with 300 to 500 psig or something with 3,000 to 5,000 psig?

Of course, having more psig is always better. Even if you stay in the low range, you won’t have to worry about something going haywire.

So, if you can afford the one that takes more pressure, go for it! But if your business is cutting costs and doesn’t need a higher psig, consider sticking to the little leagues.

Consider Shut Off

Along with pressure use, you should also consider the shut-off type for your quick disconnect. There are three main types. Let’s discuss them:

Double Shut Off

Double shut off is exactl what it sounds like. Instead of shutting off in one location, this type of disconnect actually keeps some pressure in the hose with two closings.

Of course, it can still leak, but these are great with liquids, dangerous gasses, and valuable materials you don’t want to waste.

Single Shut Off

Single shut offs are great for removing liquid or other material in a quick manner. Of course, you will have less control of the valves with this, so be careful when using it.

No Shut Off

If you have a lot of liquid to move quickly, a no shut off disconnect is perfect for you. Remember that getting this type means you can only use liquids that have no danger whatsoever.

How Easy Is It?

Ultimately, you want to consider how easy the quick disconnect is to use. With many manufacturing employees learn on the job, you don’t want to choose something that will take too much time to learn.

Even if your people have had lots of training, don’t buy disconnects that are hard to use unless they offer an advantage that other disconnects don’t give.
